My Review:
On the nose this Pinot Grigio has light fruit notes, specifically pear. Other aromas that sneak through include moss and canned peas. It is somewhere between dry and semi-sweet with low tannins and hints of pineapple. I also found it interesting that the aroma left in the glass after finishing reminded me of nuts and tire rubber.
I tasted it with pepper jack cheese, and I must say it was a good pairing. The spice from the cheese worked well with the slight sweetness of the wine and the creaminess paired well with the dry finish.
Wine Folly:
The light fruity notes mentioned (i.e. white peach and cantaloupe) align with the fruit and pear that I picked out. The nutty residual smell also fits with the common "raw almond" note. (Wine Folly pg. 149)
Additional Tasting Notes
Empire Wine:
"Full and complex, this wine has a nose that hints of pineapple, pears and sweet lemons. Tropical fruits are integrated with the zest of citrus fruits and give way to a creamy mid-palate" (Cupcake Vineyards Pinot Grigio 2021 :: Pinot Grigio / Pinot Gris (empirewine.com))
